How to Wear a Baseball Thumb Guard: The 4 Ways to Wear Hit Hero
Share
Hit Hero is built to move with your grip, not against it. That is the whole point of the V2. You can wear it four ways, and the right one is whatever feels best in your hand. Here is how to dial it in.
The four positions
Hit Hero works in four spots. Try each one and pay attention to where you feel impact most when you get jammed.
- Thumb, inside the hand. The most common setup. Protects the meat of the thumb on inside pitches.
- Thumb, outside the hand. For hitters who feel it on the back of the thumb.
- Index finger, inside. Shifts protection toward the pointer if that is where you take the hit.
- Index finger, outside. Another option for finding your most comfortable, protected grip.
How to put it on
Slide the guard onto your thumb or index finger and seat it comfortably in the hand. It should feel snug but not tight. Then grip the bat like you always do. The guard sits between your hand and the handle, where it soaks up the worst of the shock.
Finding your spot
Every hitter is different. Take a few rounds of soft toss or batting practice and move the guard around. You will know when it is right, because the sting on mishits drops off and your grip still feels natural. Once you find your spot, stick with it so it becomes automatic.
A few tips
